23 October 2011

The Gisborne Wine & Food Festival has been a must-do Labour Weekend event since 1997. Following on from a sell-out event in 2010, this year's festival has a spectacular new venue, a new format, and even more to taste, experience and see.

Gisborne's superb wines, local beer and regional food will be showcased in the stunning vineyard setting of Waiohika Estate. Top Kiwi musicians Fat Freddy's Drop and Tahuna Breaks headline 7 hours of quality entertainment alongside top local covers and jazz bands. Celebrity chef Martin Bosley will also host exclusive seafood workshops whilst Clarke Gayford entertains the audience as guest MC.

Take the opportunity to enjoy everything Gisborne has to offer. You're guaranteed a Labour Weekend to remember.

Date & Time: Sunday 23rd October. 12.30pm - 11.30pm

Venue: Waiohika Estate

The name Waiohika is given to the general area around the homestead & Poverty Bay flats and means the place where Hika (a Maori chief) drew water from natural springs which today also supply Waiohika with abundant water.

This year, Waiohika and its two large natural grass amphitheatres will host the 2011 Gisborne Wine & Food Festival. The larger 'Rhythm' amphitheatre will be used all day from 12.30pm to showcase the extensive range of local wine, beer and food exhibitors, as well as a full line-up of entertainment on the main stage. Then, come 7.30pm the focus shifts to the 'Vines' amphitheatre where the Rugby World Cup Final will be screened live on a gigantic 8.4m x 5m LED outdoor screen.
