Since 1692 making the finest Port wine
Established over three centuries ago in 1692, Taylors is one of the oldest of the founding Port houses, with a history closely tied to the development of the Port trade. The company remains proudly family owned and independent, dedicated entirely to the production of Port wine and in particular to its finest styles. Now in its fourth century, Taylors is recognised as one of the worlds most respected Port producers, renowned for its commitment to quality, long-term vineyard stewardship, and traditional winemaking.
Since 1991, David Guimaraens has played a leading role in the production of The Fladgate Partnerships wines and the development of its wineries and vineyards. As Technical Director and Head Winemaker, he oversees the groups wine inventories and leads the winemaking teams across the Taylor Fladgate, Fonseca and Croft estates. After schooling in Portugal and England, David gained hands-on winemaking experience in Australia, California and Oregon, and studied Oenology at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia before returning to Portugal in 1990 to join the Taylor Fladgate and Fonseca winemaking teams.
